October 2014

To our Valley View families,

It is Fall and the PTA is running full speed ahead!! What a busy month we’ve had this October. The first event was the Third Annual Fun Run. I would like to acknowledge Lennis Sadler, Sally Richards and Katlyn Haus for all the long hours and hard work they put into the Fun Run. I would also like to thank everyone from our Valley View community that helped make this event a huge success. We had such a community that passed out water, marked the laps on the children, tallied the pledge sheets, helped with set up and clean up, the list goes on and on. I am thankful to all of the families that had a hand in the success of the Fun Run, your help is much appreciated! To date $42,889 has been collected as pledge money and $4,150 has been collected as sponsorship money. Final numbers will be released when they are available.

On October 15th the PTA held its first “Take Your Parent to Lunch Day.” This event was an overwhelming success. First, I would like to acknowledge Frank Castro from PUSD food services for coordinating all the free lunches that were provided from our district. I would also like to thank Kelly Cantu for organizing this event. It was so wonderful to see so many Valley View families on our campus having lunch with their children.

Last Friday the PTA sponsored the Hootenanny. This has become an annual October tradition at Valley View. It was a great night of food, games, music and being with our Valley View friends and family. I would like to thank Kelly Cantu for all her planning and behind the scenes work that allowed the Hootenanny to happen.

On November 5th the PTA will have its next association meeting at 7:00 PM in the Valley View library. The main topic will focus on how the PTA should spend the $15,000 that was budgeted for Campus Improvements and Beautification. The main two ideas being submitted are an upgrade to the MPR and playground equipment for the children. Please come to the meeting to hear the full details of the PTA’s plans.

Wishing you the best,

Todd Carnahan
