Does your child enjoy expressing his/her creativity through the arts? Do you want to encourage and inspire his/her creative talents? If yes, then the PTA Reflections Art program is for you. The National PTA Reflections Arts Recognition Program is an art competition with emphasis placed on promoting excitement for the arts; having students create original pieces that are showcased for their peers, teachers, and parents; and being recognized for their own work.

To get involved, students submit an original piece, inspired by the annual theme, in any of the following arts areas:

This year's theme is "The World Would be a Better Place if..."

Submissions are due by Wednesday, October 8th. To encourage arts across the campus, a "gallery" will be erected for students to come and tour these works on October 13th and 14th. An Arts Reception will be held on October 15th for students, parents, and teachers to recognize the children that participated. Winners in each category will be announced at the reception and those students will move on to the Council competition and maybe the District, State, or National competitions. To allow student artworks to be recognized and judged with the appropriate developmental age and skill levels in mind, the Reflections Program is organized into the following two divisions at Valley View: Primary (TK to Grade 2) and Intermediate (Grades 3 to 5). Rules for submissions can be found online here.

Valley View is hoping for HUGE participation this year. Start talking with your student now about ideas for their submission. For questions regarding the Reflections Program, please contact Megan Gates.
