General Letter to VV Families
Post date: Jan 19, 2015 10:45:27 PM
Dear Valley View Families,
At the midpoint of our school year, excitement and achievement are in the air at Valley View. In addition to wishing you and your family a Happy New Year, the PTA would like to take a moment to mention a few of the many successes and happenings at our school.
To date, the Valley View PTA has proudly provided significant financial support to better our childrens’ experiences in the classroom. Here are just a few examples:
An art specialist (for the second year in a row) who will visit each classroom four times throughout the year ($5,900 budgeted)
Soul Shoppe (anti-bullying) assemblies and workshops for all students ($5,950 budgeted)
$22,919.17 spent to date for teacher and staff classroom supplies and expenses.
Grade-level field trips ($3,221 to date, $7,200 budgeted)
Improvements to the MPR, library, staff conference room, portable/outdoor sound system, and five more interactive classroom boards
Over $2,800 in new playground equipment for all children
In addition to the financial support, we continue to work on making our Valley View community the best it can be! We have had many accomplishments thus far:
We provided information to our school community through our weekly “Mustang” newsletter.
We are so proud of all our students that entered the National PTA Reflections Art Recognition Program. Three of our students’ works advanced to the next level of competition.
We have hosted two fun-filled community events - the Fun Run and the Hootenanny.
We collected and donated close to 300 pounds of candy to Operation Gratitude’s Candy for the Troops collection drive.
New this year were Food Trucks at back to school night and Family Trivia Night
We have had three association meetings. Your energy has been positive! We are looking forward to seeing many more of you at our upcoming meeting on Wednesday, February 4, at 7pm in the Valley View library.
Please mark your calendars for the upcoming scheduled events:
Family Game Night (February 13th)
Talent Show (February 26th)
Science Fair (March 24th)
Dinner with a Scientist (April 16th)
Multicultural Fair (May 29th)
The Valley View PTA continues to work very hard to help make our school the best it can be. We value your thoughts and opinions. Thank you for your partnership, your generosity, and your continued support as we work to accomplish new and existing goals together.
Kind Regards,
