PTA’s Reflections Art Program Brings Art to Life Across the NationCA.Middle.Photography.Leung.Phoebe

The National PTA Reflections Arts Recognition Program is an art competition with emphasis placed on promoting excitement for the arts; having students create original pieces that are showcased for their peers, teachers, and parents; and being recognized for their own work.
California State PTA believes all children deserve a quality arts education. We encourage students to pursue artistic expression through participation in National PTA’s Reflections Art Program.
Since 1969, the Reflections Program has encouraged millions of students from throughout California and across the nation to create works of art. At PTA schools in California, 46,327 students participated in last year’s program.
The Reflections Program provides a venue for students to create and be recognized for original works of art based on a student inspired pre-selected theme. It also serves to increase community awareness of how important arts is in education.
To get involved, students submit an original piece, inspired by the annual theme, in any of the following arts areas:
DANCE / CHOREOGRAPHY            PHOTOGRAPHY                    MUSIC COMPOSITION
                LITERATURE                                  FILM PRODUCTION              VISUAL ARTS

Deadline for submissions are TBD. To encourage arts across the campus, a "gallery" will be erected for students to come and tour these works. An Arts Reception will then be held for students, parents, and teachers to recognize the children that participated. Winners in each category will be announced at the reception and those students will move on to the Council competition and maybe the District, State, or National competitions.
To allow student artworks to be recognized and judged with the appropriate developmental age and skill levels in mind, the Reflections Program is organized into the following two divisions at Valley View: Primary (TK to Grade 2) and Intermediate (Grades 3 to 5). Rules for submissions can be found online at Reflections Entry Rules.

Congratulations to the 2015 California Reflections Art Program Award of Excellence Recipients!
